Bhubaneswar, Sept. 5 -- A total of six people were arrested on Thursday for allegedly lynching a 35-year-old Dalit man and critically injuring his friend over suspicion that they were selling beef, police said. According to police, Kounsidhipa village residents Kishore Chamar and Goutam Nayak were assaulted by residents of Kendeijuri and Balita villages on Wednesday evening after allegedly discovering beef and a cow's head at the spot. Deogarh SP Anil Kumar Mishra said, "Though Kishore explained that he was chopping the beef after the death of his cow, he was accused of killing it. The two were beaten up by the group, and Kishore died on the spot. Though Goutam was injured, he managed to escape. Six people were arrested."...
