Lucknow, June 10 -- A 16-year-old girl who had been missing for nearly 21 months was traced and rescued by the Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of the Lucknow Police, bringing relief to a family that had been searching for her since September 2024. The girl was recovered safely from the BBD area on June 9 under Operation Muskaan, a special initiative focused on tracing missing children and reuniting them with their families. With no immediate leads, the investigation was later handed over to the AHTU, which pursued the case through a combination of technical surveillance, intelligence gathering, informant inputs and extensive field verification. "After months of sustained efforts, investigators developed crucial leads that ultimately led them to the girl, who was found safe and brought back under police protection," she added.
