PATNA, July 25 -- The NDA alliance leaders, coming down heavily on Leader of Opposition in Bihar assembly Tejashwi Yadav over his remark on possible Bihar election boycott, said on Thursday that he was "insulting democracy" and is making an "excuse" as he "fears a defeat". Union minister of state for home affairs Nityanand Rai said on Thursday, "No rigging of voter lists is taking place. RJD-Congress and Tejashwi Yadav know that their defeat in the 2025 elections is certain. So, fearing a defeat, they are looking for excuses...by stating that they can boycott elections, he is insulting democracy." BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal called the possibility of boycott "an eyewash to provoke voters". He said, "Should the names of those who have died be removed or not?...For people whose names are listed in the electoral roll in two places, should their name appear twice? ...The boycott call is simply an eyewash to provoke voters." Congress leader Shakeel Ahmed Khan, meanwhile, said, "The situation in which this is said is very serious. This arises because lakhs of voters have been deprived of the right to vote."...
