PRAYAGRAJ, Sept. 30 -- As part of an initiative to extend health coverage to its workforce and their families, the North Central Railway (NCR) has issued 388 Ayushman cards to eligible contract labourers across its three divisions. Of the total, 145 cards were issued in the Prayagraj division, 140 in Jhansi, and 103 in Agra, said North Central Railway chief public relations officer (CPRO) Dr. Shivam Sharma on Monday. The initiative, undertaken on the instructions of NCR General Manager Naresh Pal Singh, aims to provide contract workers and their families access to cashless, paperless treatment at empanelled hospitals. Under the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), beneficiaries receive health coverage of up to Rs.5 lakh per family per year, subject to eligibility criteria. The railway continues to identify and enrol more eligible workers under the scheme to reduce their financial burden, particularly during serious illnesses or hospitalisations, the CPRO added. htc...
