Modi showcases GI heritage with Banarasi silk stoles at G7 meet
VARANASI, June 20 -- During the G7 Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented global leaders with special gifts reflecting India's rich cultural heritage, traditional knowledge and local craftsmanship, including the traditional Banarasi silk stole from Varanasi.
"Prime Minister Modi has been a strong ambassador for Geographical Indication (GI) products, actively promoting India's heritage globally. Gifting Banarasi silk stoles is one such example," said GI expert Rajni Kant, adding that GI products from across India are gaining significant global recognition.
The hand-woven Banarasi silk stole from Varanasi is an exquisite example of Indian textile tradition. Woven using fine silk and intricate Zari (metallic thread) work, these stoles feature captivating, nature-inspired designs. htc...
