Mirzapur police nab 20-year-old man for killing minor girl
VARANASI, May 26 -- Mirzapur police on Monday arrested a 20-year-old man accused of allegedly murdering a 15-year-old girl near Dubeypur Basari village under Padri police station area of the district on Sunday.
Identified as Ajay Bind, 20, the accused is a resident of Sukhani in Madihan police station area of Mirzapur. He was arrested during an encounter/
A police officer said that during interrogation, the accused stated that his friend, Rajan alias Sajan, was in a relationship with the victim girl. They both went to meet her, and when the accused tried to force himself on her, the girl resisted and tried to raise an alarm following which Ajay struck her on the chest with a stone. Thereafter, he and Rajan smothered her-pressing her mouth and throat with a gamcha. They then dumped the body in a field and fled.
Police said that information was received that an accused involved in murder was traveling towards Gauraraj village on a motorcycle.The Padri Police cordoned off the area near Baudri Hill and when the accused opened fire at the police party in an attempt to evade arrest, police team also resorted to retaliatory firing. The accused sustained a gunshot wound in his leg and was rushed to the hospital. Superintendent of police, Aparna Rajat Kaushik said that one .315 bore country-made pistol (Katta)-along with live and spent cartridges-and a traditional scarf (Gamcha) used in the murder were recovered from his possession.
