Minor suffers severe burns after touching dangling high-voltage wire
PRAYAGRAJ, May 27 -- A 14-year-old girl suffered serious burn injuries after coming in contact with a low-hanging high-voltage electricity wire in Beri village of Meja tehsil on Monday morning. The incident sparked anger among local residents, who accused the power department of negligence.
According to villagers, Archana, daughter of Dayashankar, had stepped out of her house around 7 am with her cousin Sapna when the incident occurred. Residents said an 11,000-volt power line had been hanging dangerously low in the area for a long time.
As girls were passing through the spot, Archana accidentally touched the dangling wire and received a severe electric shock. She collapsed after suffering serious burns. Hearing Sapna's cries, family members and nearby villagers rushed to help.
The injured girl was taken to a nearby private hospital, where she is undergoing treatment.
A nine-year-old girl was injured after being attacked by a group of monkeys in Kaushambi on Monday evening, police and local residents said.
The incident took place near Ashadha crossing under the Paschim Sharira police station area. The injured child, identified as Sidra, resident of Ashadha village, was playing outside her house when monkeys attacked.
According to residents, the monkeys bit her badly on the hand and also left several scratch marks on her body.
