PRAYAGRAJ, June 18 -- A shocking case of sexual assault on a minor has come to light in a village under the Mauaima police station area. According to the complaint, a man alleged that his wife's cousin frequently visited their home and was treated like a maternal uncle by the children. On December 4, 2025, the accused allegedly took advantage of the absence of family members and assaulted the man's 13 year old daughter. The complaint further stated that the accused continued to visit the house and repeatedly assaulted the minor over the following months. He is also accused of threatening the girl with dire consequences if she disclosed the abuse. The incident came to light when the girl began showing signs of pregnancy roughly six months later. Growing suspicious, the family questioned her, after which she revealed the ordeal. The victim's parents subsequently approached Mauaima police station, where a case was registered under relevant sections of rape and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. Police arrested the accused, identified as Vivek Singh alias Vikas Singh, a resident of Sarai Jamuwari village in Pratapgarh district. He has been sent to jail. The minor was escorted by a female constable for medical examination, and her statement is being recorded before the court as part of the legal proceedings. An 18-year-old tractor driver was tragically crushed to death after the raised hydraulic trailer of his vehicle suddenly collapsed while he was attempting to fix it late Tuesday night.
