Ajmer, Aug. 8 -- A hotel staffer, who was shot during a gun display, was killed on Friday after the ambulance rushing him to hospital crashed into a drain's boundary while trying to avoid a stray animal along the Jodhpur highway in Rajasthan, police said. The deceased has been identified as Ram Kumar (40), originally from Bihar, worked at Kharnal's Neelkanth hotel. Police said the incident took place after liquor trader Mahipal Bishnoi arrived in the hotel at around 3.30 am and allegedly showed his countrymade pistol to Ram Kumar. "While he was showing him the gun, there was a misfire and Ram Kumar was shot," said additional superintendent of police Asaram Choudhary. He added that the bullet entered Kumar's chest and exited from near his shoulder. Bishnoi fled the spot immediately. Police said the ambulance taking Kumar to a hospital in Jodhpur allegedly swerved to avoid a stray animal on the highway near Khimsar and crashed into the boundary of a drain under construction. The ambulance driver and Kumar's attendants Ram Prasad and Ranjit were also injured. Police said Kumar's body was sent to a mortuary for post-mortem examination, and his family was informed. The ASP said FSL teams collected evidence from the scene of the shooting and registered a case against Bisnoi under section 109 (attempted murder) of the BNS and relevant sections of the Arms Act....
