Man shot dead by unidentified assailants in BKT; FIR registered
LUCKNOW, Oct. 27 -- A 27-year-old man was shot dead in Bakshi-ka-Talab (BKT) area of Lucknow late Saturday night, prompting police to launch an investigation to identify the accused. The victim has been identified as Pradeep Kumar Gautam, a resident of Mampur Bana village who sustained two gunshot wounds on his body and died during treatment.
Police said they received information around 9.55pm on October 25 that a man was lying injured near Mampur Bana Kishan cut. A Police Response Vehicle reached the spot and found Pradeep in a critical condition. Officers rushed him to the 100-bed hospital in Sadhamau, BKT, from where doctors referred him to King George's Medical University (KGMU). However, doctors at KGMU declared him dead.
Senior officials and the forensic field unit inspected the scene soon after the incident. Police initially believed it could be a road accident based on information given by locals, but the discovery of bullet wounds confirmed it was a case of firing. The police informed the family, completed the Panchnama in their presence, and sent the body for post-mortem examination.
ADCP North Amol Murkut confirmed that an FIR has been registered and teams are working to trace the accused. He said the police acted to shift the victim to hospital to save his life, but he could not survive. Police are examining local enmity angles, questioning villagers, and checking CCTV footage from nearby routes.
