LUCKNOW, June 4 -- A 26-year-old man was arrested within 24 hours of the recovery of a 22-year-old youth's body from a banana field in Itaunja on Tuesday. Police claimed the man murdered his nephew by strangling him over alleged inappropriate behaviour towards his sister. The accused, identified as Brijendra Pratap Singh alias Brajesh Singh, was arrested on Wednesday by a joint team of the DCP North's surveillance unit and Itaunja police. Police also recovered the plastic strap allegedly used in the murder. The victim, Sachin Singh, a resident of Indrapuri Colony in Madiaon, was found dead in a field in Akbarpur village under Itaunja police station limits. An FIR was lodged by his father on June 2, alleging that his son had been called away by the accused before being killed. "During questioning, the accused allegedly told police that Sachin was related to him and frequently visited his house. He claimed that the victim had been making advances towards his sister and had been warned several times," said DCP North Gopal Choudhary. The accused hatched a plan to eliminate Sachin and called him to Akbarpur village on June 1. He allegedly made the youth consume alcohol and later strangled him with a plastic packing strap, the police said. htc...
