Man held for killing teen, 'attempting cannibalism'
Bhopal/Sagar, March 6 -- A 46-year-old man was arrested for killing a 16-year-old boy and allegedly trying to eat his flesh and drink his blood, in an act of suspected cannibalism, in Samanna village of Madhya Pradesh's Damoh district, police said.
According to police, the accused identified as Gudda Patel, a resident of the same village, had been released from jail a few weeks back in a case involving the murder of his wife.
City superintendent of police (CSP) HR Pandey said: "The deceased, Bharat Vishwakarma, a resident of Arthkheda village, had come to his sister's house in Samanna village. While returning on his bike, Gudda Patel chased and murdered him with an iron rod and hammer.
When the villagers heard the boy's scream, they rushed to the spot and found Patel eating the flesh from the 16-year-old's head and drinking the blood from his hands."
The accused escaped the village and hid in agricultural land nearby.
"On receiving information about the incident, police arrived at the scene and cordoned off the field.
After an hour's effort, police arrested the accused and took him to the police station," said the CSP.
Police are investigating the reason behind the murder.
A few years ago, Patel had been arrested for killing his wife. He was convicted in the matter. He was released from jail in January....
