ETAH, Sept. 30 -- A man allegedly fired a shot from a country-made pistol at a school in Etah on Tuesday following an argument with the principal over a demand for examination fees for his two children, police said. The bullet hit the gate of the principal's office and no one was injured, they said. The incident took place at Sankat Mochan Inter College in Bani village under Nayagaon police station. Principal Sushil Kumar said the accused, identified as Satendra Kumar, a resident of Kadraganj village, has two children studying at the school. The school administration had asked the children to deposit Rs.200 as examination fee, which allegedly angered Satendra. He reached the school carrying a country-made pistol and allegedly misbehaved with the principal and other staff members, Kumar said. During the altercation, Satendra allegedly took out the weapon and fired a shot that struck the gate of the principal's office. Police were informed and reached the spot, taking the accused into custody. Circle officer Rajesh Singh said the country-made pistol used in the incident was recovered from him.
