LUCKNOW, Dec. 22 -- A man was beaten to death in Lucknow's Para police station area in the early hours of Sunday, police said, adding that the accused has been taken into custody and is being questioned. According to an official police statement, the incident was reported around 2.15 am through a police response vehicle (PRV), informing authorities that a man had been killed in Parookheda village. Acting on the information, the station house officer (SHO) reached the spot with police personnel and found the body of Shiv Prakash (around 30), son of Shivdeen, lying with a severe head injury caused by a heavy object. "The body was taken into custody, aand the body sent to the mortuary for post-mortem examination," police said in the press note. Family members told police that Shiv Prakash worked as a labourer at a brick kiln and is survived by two children. The victim's wife, Savita, alleged that the murder was the result of a long-standing dispute with their neighbour, Satish Kumar. She claimed the accused came to their house late at night, abused her husband and later assaulted him brutally outside the house.
