Make feedback on ElectricityBill public: Power staff body
LUCKNOW, Feb. 16 -- The UP Vidyut Karamachari Sanyukt Sangharsh Samiti has demanded that the Union power ministry immediately make public the minutes of all stakeholder meetings held in January on the proposed Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2025.
In a statement issued here on Saturday, the committee said transparency was essential as widespread opposition to the draft bill continues.
The leaders welcomed the fact that the Bill was not introduced during the first phase of Parliament's Budget Session, but cautioned that attempts could be made to table it in the second phase beginning March 9.
Any such move, they warned, would deepen resentment among power employees, engineers and consumers across the country.
"Online consultations chaired by the Union power secretary in January saw unanimous opposition from trade unions and national federations linked to the power sector, with all participants seeking withdrawal of the draft Bill.
