India, Sept. 24 -- Canadian actor of Sri Lankan Tamil heritage Maitreyi Ramakrishnan brought a modern touch to Paalum Pazhamum Kattam pattern during her September 16 appearance onThe Drew Barrymore Show. Appearing alongside comedian-actor Hasan Minhaj to promote their film Best of the Best, the 24-year-old wore a mini dress by Chennai-based designer Ashwin Thiyagarajan. It featured a structured corset bodice, sweetheart neckline and voluminous box-pleated skirt. The dress was made from a Paalum Pazhamum Kattam saree, a traditional Kanchipuram silk with distinctive checks in shades of orange, ochre, green, maroon and red.
