Mahoba court awards death penalty to man for killing wife, two daughters
Kanpur, June 4 -- A Mahoba fast-track court on Wednesday sentenced a man to death for murdering his wife and two minor daughters, nearly two years after the three were killed at their home following a domestic dispute.
Additional district and sessions judge (fast-track court) Aparna Tripathi convicted Devendra Vishwakarma and imposed a fine of Rs.50,000.
According to the prosecution, the incident took place on July 17, 2023, in the Samad Nagar locality of Mahoba. Vishwakarma allegedly attacked his wife, Rajkumari, 36, with a grinding stone following an argument. Their daughters, Arushi, 9, and Sonali, 5, were also killed in the incident.
The prosecution told the court that Vishwakarma fled the house after the killings. A complaint was subsequently lodged by Hariprasad Panchal, Rajkumari's father and a resident of Nauranga village in Hamirpur district's Majhgawan area.
Police registered a murder case and arrested Vishwakarma. Following the investigation, a chargesheet was filed before the court.
District government counsel (criminal) Dinesh Singh said the prosecution examined witnesses and relied on documentary and forensic evidence during the trial.
After hearing arguments from both sides and examining the evidence on record, the court found Vishwakarma guilty of murdering his wife and two daughters and subsequently pronounced the judgement. htc...
