Lucknow Met Centre to be upgraded as regional hub
LUCKNOW, June 7 -- The Meteorological Centre in Lucknow is set to be upgraded to a Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), giving it jurisdiction over both Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
The formal announcement is expected to be made by chief minister Yogi Adityanath in the presence of minister of state (independent charge), ministry of earth sciences, Jitendra Singh at a function to be held at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan here on Monday. The upgradation has been approved by the ministry of earth sciences and the India Meteorological Department.
"This will further strengthen our capabilities for continuous monitoring, forecasting and early-warning services for the region's challenging weather conditions, particularly in the densely populated Gangetic plains and the mountainous terrain of Uttarakhand," according to an official communication....
