Leopard captured alive from DBZ
Lakhimpur Kheri, Feb. 10 -- After more than a month of monitoring operations, Dudhwa buffer zone (DBZ) officials successfully captured a leopard from Dahaura nullah area near Panditpurwa village in Dhaurahra forest range on Monday.
It is assumed that the captured leopard is the same one which had killed Sirajuddin,60, on December 31 last as movement of no other big cat was noticed in the area.
Kirti Chaudhari, deputy director, DBZ, too said the captured leopard had caused human casualty on December 31.
Movements of the leopard in the area had posed a serious threat to farmers particularly during the harvesting of sugarcane crops.
In view of this, Chaudhary had deputed patrolling teams to monitor the movements of the big cat and to capture it.
The forest teams set up cages and monitored the movements of the big cat through patrolling and drone cameras.
On Monday, the leopard was captured in a cage in the same Dahaura nulla area where it had made the human killing on Dec 31 and was staying there since then.
Chaudhary told Hindustan Times that the captured leopard was brought to Dhaurahra range headquarters, where a team of veterinary experts from Dudhwa carried out a physical examination. Deo Kant Pandey...
