LUCKNOW, June 18 -- The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has revived its affordable housing push, proposing more than 5,000 flats across five locations in the city for economically weaker sections (EWS), lower income groups (LIG) and middle-income families. LDA vice chairman Prathamesh Kumar said sites have been identified in Basant Kunj, Aishbagh, Sitapur Road, Sharda Nagar Extension and Anant Nagar for the upcoming housing projects. At Basant Kunj, LDA has earmarked 12,808.92 square metres for two residential towers comprising 624 flats and 32 commercial units. Near Water Works at Village Bhadeva in Aishbagh, LDA plans three towers on a 10,098-square-metre plot. The project will offer 264 two-bedroom-plus-study apartments measuring 114 square metres. Tower A-1 will have 72 units, while Towers B-1 and B-2 will contain 96 units each.LDA has proposed 918 affordable flats on nearly 16,000 square metres of nazul land near Shia PG College on Sitapur Road, recently freed from encroachment. The project will include 582 LIG flats and 336 EWS units. Anant Nagar housing project In Adarsh Khand of Anant Nagar, the authority has planned 1,392 flats on an 8,411-square-metre group housing plot. The scheme will comprise 412 one-bedroom and 980 two-bedroom units. LDA has also proposed an affordable housing project worth around Rs.200 crore in Sharda Nagar Extension.
