KANPUR, Aug. 21 -- Students of a composite school in Gugrapur, Kannauj, boycotted classes and protested at the main gate on Thursday, alleging irregularities and misconduct by the in-charge headmaster. They demanded that district officials, including the district magistrate, visit the school and take action. Students, parents and local residents gathered outside the school. When the headmaster tried to leave in his car, students surrounded the vehicle and raised slogans against him, refusing to disperse until officials were called. Parents and villagers alleged that students were made to sweep and mop the school and perform other work. They also claimed students were threatened with being barred from computer classes and other activities if they refused.
