Kin wait outside morgue; hope battles in ICU
LUCKNOW, June 23 -- Dozens of relatives and family members gathered at the postmortem house of the King George's Medical University following the tragedy.
The treatment of the injured is underway at the KGMU Trauma Centre. Dr Premraj Singh, chief medical superintendent of the Trauma Centre, said that two injured persons are currently admitted. Jayant, who sustained a severe injury to the vertebral column, is undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), while Luvpreet is admitted to the general ward and remains under medical observation.
Health officials said all necessary medical and logistical support is being provided to the affected families.
After the completion of post-mortem examinations, the bodies were to be transported to the houses of the deceased along with their family members.
Senior health department officials arranged hearses from several government hospitals, including Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences, Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lok Bandhu Raj Narayan Hospital, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Civil Hospital and Balrampur Hospital, along with support from private hearse operators.
Considering the emotional and financial distress faced by the bereaved families, the administration arranged hearses. Officials said that no transportation charges would be borne by the families, ensuring a dignified and hassle-free final journey for the deceased.
