LUCKNOW, Aug. 3 -- Theatre group Darpan Natya Sanstha commemorated the 27th Kargil Vijay Diwas with a special staging of the suspense thriller Swaha at Surya Auditorium on Sunday, drawing an audience of serving and retired armed forces personnel, veterans and theatre enthusiasts. Directed by National School of Drama alumnus Subhdeep Raha, the play explored themes of patriotism, espionage, and personal sacrifice. Set in the aftermath of the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War, the story follows retired Major General Surya Prakash Bhatia-played by Padma Shri awardee Anil Kumar Rastogi-whose loyalty to the nation is put to the ultimate test when his son is investigated for allegedly spying for Pakistan's intelligence agency. The investigation is led by a senior RAW officer whose life general saved during the 1971 war, culminating in a finale that underscores conflict between family ties and national duty. The cast also included Divya Bhardwaj Bhattacharya, Shubham Kumar Dubey, Vikas Srivastav, Kushwant Khanna and Virendra Rastogi. Chief guest Anindya Sengupta felicitated the director and cast. The evening concluded with a special honour for Rastogi in recognition of his decades-long contribution to theatre, cinema and television, following his recent Padma Shri award. htc...
