Jewellery worth lakhs stolen from house
Lucknow, Aug. 27 -- Jewellery worth lakhs of rupees was stolen after burglars broke into a locked house in the Gomtinagar Extension area last Saturday, police said on Tuesday.
"The burglary took place on August 23, but was reported to police late on August 25, after which an FIR was registered," said station house officer (SHO) Sudhir Awasthi.
According to the FIR, the complainant, Hemant Kumar of Chhota Bharwara in Gangotri Vihar Colony and his wife left their rented accommodation around 10 am on August 23 for work. When he returned, he found the lock on the main door broken and the house ransacked.
Kumar reported gold and diamond jewellery, including six chains, ten rings, four anklets, two rings, five pairs of earrings and 30 pairs of toe rings, were missing. In addition, Rs.63,000 in cash was also stolen. htc...
