LUCKNOW, Nov. 6 -- A state-level office-bearer of a Hindu outfit allegedly died by suicide after shooting himself in the chest with his licensed rifle at his residence in Barabanki early Thursday, police said. The incident took place around 3am in Aladaspur village under Ram Sanehi Ghat police station limits, around 40 km from the district headquarters. According to family members, they rushed to the house's verandah after hearing a gunshot and found the 38-year-old lying in a pool of blood. His licensed rifle was lying nearby. He was declared dead at the spot. The deceased had been associated with the outfit for around five years and was serving as its state vice-president. His family members told police that he had been under stress over an issue for nearly a month and had largely stopped going out.
