LUCKNOW, Jan. 21 -- Hearings on notices served on voters under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls will begin from Wednesday (January 21). The Election Commission of India (ECI) is sending notices to 3.26 crore voters whose names figure in the draft electoral roll of 12.55 crore voters. Of these, 1.4 crore voters are those whose names were not found in the 2003 electoral roll during the mapping exercise with the 2025 list. Notices are also being sent to another 2.22 crore voters in whose enumeration forms discrepancies were detected, including errors in names, addresses, or father's or mother's names. Uttar Pradesh chief electoral officer Navdeep Rinwa said the ECI began issuing notices from January 14. For the hearing process, the Commission has deputed 493 electoral registration officers and 8,751 assistant electoral registration officers.
