New Delhi, Feb. 11 -- The Delhi high court on Tuesday suggested that Rani Kapur, mother of late businessman Sunjay Kapur, his wife Priya Kapur, and other family members should resolve their differences following the tycoon's death through mediation in a "peaceful manner," describing the present situation as "sorry." Justice Mini Pushkarna said, "Is there any chance that I can send the matter to mediation? It's a very sorry state of affairs...Families are involved, but the way forward is that you all should resolve the dispute in a peaceful manner; the blessing should not turn into a curse." Sunjay Kapur, the chairperson of automotive component manufacturer Sona Comstar, died of cardiac arrest on June 12, 2025. He was earlier married to designer Nandita Mahtani, and later to actor Karisma Kapoor, with whom he has two children - Samaira and Kiaan. After their divorce in 2016, he married Priya in 2017, with whom he had a son, Azarius. The Rani Kapur Family Trust was constituted under a trust deed dated October 26, 2017, and holds shares in Sona Comstar. Following Sunjay's death, Samaira and Kiaan moved the high court seeking a 1/5th share from their father's will. Rani also filed a suit in January to declare the trust as "null" and "void," asserting that her late son and daughter-in-law, Priya, fraudulently constituted it as a vehicle to unlawfully divest her of assets bequeathed to her by her husband, SK KAPUR, the founder of Sona Comstar. The matter will be next heard on March 23....
