HC directs DG of prison admn to comply with order in contempt case
LUCKNOW, May 15 -- The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court has directed director general of prison administration and reform services Prem Chand Meena to comply with the writ court's order in question before the next hearing in a contempt case.
The court said that failing to do so, he would have to appear before it on May 22 for further contempt proceedings, including framing of charges.
A single bench of Justice Saurabh Lavania passed the order on May 13 while hearing a petition filed by four persons, including Nitu Nim, seeking initiation of contempt proceedings against the director general of prisons for not complying with the writ court's order
The court observed that the application seeking vacation of the stay in the case had been rejected on April 30 last.
It further said that an affidavit confirming compliance with the order should be filed by the opposite party/contemnor, the director general of prisons.
The matter has been listed for the next hearing on May 22.
