AGRA, May 17 -- The body of a 38-year-old man accused in a rape case was found hanging from a tree near a canal in Sahpau police station area of Hathras, police said on Saturday. The accused had been booked for allegedly raping a minor and circulating obscene video online. Deputy superintendent of police of Sadabad in Hathras, Amit Pathak, said that a case was registered on Thursday at Sahpau police station. According to Pathak, the girl's statement was recorded in Hathras Court, where she named the accused for both rape and circulation of the obscene videos. "On Friday, the body of the accused was found hanging from a tree near a canal in Hathras. Prima facie, it appears to be a case of suicide.
