Gkp man abducted for ransom, rescued
GORAKHPUR, July 27 -- The Gorakhpur Police rescued a man abducted on Friday morning, and arrested three accused involved in the crime. Four others remain at large.
The victim, Ashok Jaiswal, a resident of Padri Bazar under Shahpur Police Station limits, was abducted during his routine morning walk near the Railway Stadium.
Jaiswal, who is also the owner of Ayushman Hospital located on the second floor of his residence, failed to return home by 9:00 AM, prompting his family to report the matter to the police.
Around 10:00 AM, Jaiswal's wife, Dr Sushma Jaiswal, a government doctor posted in Basti district, received a WhatsApp call from an unknown number. The caller demanded a ransom of Rs.1 crore and briefly allowed her to speak with her husband. The call was then disconnected and the phone was switched off.
Acting swiftly, the police launched a high-level operation under the supervision of SSP Raj Karan Nayyar, constituting four teams to track down the kidnappers. Using CCTV footage, electronic surveillance, and mobile tracking, the police traced the victim's movement through Azamgarh, Sant Kabir Nagar, and Sahjanwa, where the accused had tried to shift him repeatedly to evade detection.
Late on Friday night, the victim was rescued safely, and three accused were arrested. The arrested individuals have been identified as Karunesh Kumar Dubey, Janardhan Gaur, and Shyam Sundar alias Guddu Yadav, all residents of Shankarpur under Sikri Ganj Police Station in Gorakhpur district.
Police also recovered the car used in the abduction, along with a country-made firearm and mobile phone. A case has been registered under FIR No. 358/2025 under Section 140(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
SP City Abhinav Tyagi said the abduction was part of a well-planned extortion scheme executed by debt-ridden youths. He assured that the remaining four accused, who were in a separate vehicle during the abduction, would be arrested soon.Abdur Rahman...
