Four arrested for allegedly selling beef biryani
PRAYAGRAJ, April 8 -- Four persons have been arrested for allegedly selling beef biryani at a restaurant outlet in Roshanbag Food Court, police said. The action was taken after a complaint by Lalmani Tiwari, an office bearer of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP). He alleged that the accused were selling beef biryani and had issued death threats when he and his associates opposed it.
According to the complaint, the outlet owner and his staff allegedly captured stray cattle and slaughtered them in secluded areas to prepare meat for biryani. Police said that VHP activists, including Shubham Kushwaha, Shyamji Sharma and Vijay Pandey, visited the outlet posing as customers. During their visit, the staff allegedly claimed that they served biryani made from chicken, goat, cow and buffalo meat. A menu listing separate prices for beef dishes was also reportedly found.
Khuldabad police station SHO Shailendra Singh said a case has been registered and four accused Mohammad Zaid, Ayaan, Mizaan and Shamsul Laka have been arrested.
