Lucknow, June 8 -- Sarojini Nagar police have arrested a former employee of an insurance company for allegedly cheating customers of Rs.8.05 lakh by manipulating insurance policy transactions. The arrest was made on Saturday night after months of investigation. The accused, Shubhanshu Singh ,31, was arrested from the Gadankheda Bypass area in Unnao. Police said he was wanted in connection with a financial fraud case registered in 2025. According to police, the matter came to light when three insurance policyholders complained that money deposited for their policies had been misused. The complaints pointed to financial irregularities worth Rs.8.05 lakh during Singh's time as an associate at the company's Lucknow branch. Following the complaints, the insurance company conducted an internal inquiry, which reportedly confirmed the allegations. Singh was subsequently dismissed from his job, and the company filed a complaint with the Sarojini Nagar police. An FIR was registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and an investigation was launched. Police said Singh repeatedly avoided arrest, leading the court to issue a non-bailable warrant against him on February 21 this year. Acting on a tip-off, a police team traced Singh to Unnao. During questioning, he admitted to irregularities in handling insurance policies and customer funds. Investigators are now examining transaction records and customer complaints. htc...
