GORAKHPUR/VARANASI, June 29 -- Five people, including two couples, were killed and four others injured in two separate road accidents in eastern UP over the weekend. In Kushinagar, three members of a family-a mother, her son and daughter-in-law-were killed after a speeding car rammed into their motorcycle near Pattan Crossing on the Hata-Pipraich Road on Saturday evening. The family was on its way to BRD Medical College in Gorakhpur for treatment. The deceased were identified as Vivek Singh, 25, his wife Shalu Singh, 21, and his mother Madhuri Devi, 55, all residents of Dwami Patti village. According to police, the impact threw the victims several feet off the bike before they were crushed by the car. They were declared brought dead at the CHC. In another accident, a husband and wife were killed and four others injured after their car crashed into a parked truck on the highway near Lahuriadah village in Mirzapur on Sunday. The victims, Vikas Tamrakar (35) and his wife Sonam Tamrakar (31), were residents of Katni district in MP. The car was travelling from Varanasi to Katni with eight occupants, including two children.
