PRAYAGRAJ, Oct. 31 -- A team of Prayagraj's vigilance department caught a fisheries department official in Pratapgarh red-handed while accepting a bribe in his office on Thursday. According to reports, a vigilance department team from Prayagraj on Thursday caught Vikas Kumar Deepankar, an inspector in the Pratapgarh Fisheries Department, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs.15,000. The inspector had allegedly demanded the amount in exchange for issuing a Kisan Credit Card. The Vigilance team has arrested the accused and initiated further action. Pradeep Kumar Singh, a resident of Raigarh under the Patti police station in Pratapgarh, lodged a complaint on October 24 stating that a lease for fish farming land in Raigarh village had been allotted in his mother Rita's name. A Kisan Credit Card was required to carry out the fish farming project, and all necessary documents were submitted to the chief executive officer of the fisheries department. However, inspector Vikas Kumar Deepankar kept delaying the approval. Frustrated by the delay, Pradeep lodged a complaint on the CM's Public Hearing Portal.
