LUCKNOW, May 15 -- A series of technical faults, transformer failures and damaged cables triggered widespread power outages across several parts of Lucknow during the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday, leaving thousands of residents without electricity for hours amid rising heat and humidity. According to power department officials, two transformers were damaged and multiple cable faults were reported across different parts of the city, disrupting supply from around midnight till the early hours of Thursday. Areas including Rajajipuram, Salempur Pataura, Sitapur Road and adjoining localities were among the worst affected, with power cuts continuing till nearly 5 am in some places. Residents complained of repeated sleep disruptions as electricity supply fluctuated through the night. Officials attributed the outages to a combination of 11KV feeder faults, aerial bundled cable (ABC) failures and overload-related technical issues across substations. In Rajajipuram, a fault in the Vishwakarma feeder caused prolonged outages, while another 11KV feeder fault near Nadarganj on Kanpur Road disrupted supply. In Faizullahganj, damage to an ABC line further aggravated the situation. htc...
