Lucknow, Aug. 12 -- Patients suffering from ear, nose and throat (ENT) injuries following road accidents and other trauma will now have access to specialist care twice a week at the Apex Trauma Centre of Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), Lucknow. The institute has started regular ENT outpatient services at the trauma centre every Monday and Wednesday, strengthening its specialised care for patients with injuries that can otherwise lead to permanent hearing loss, facial paralysis and other serious complications. Dr Mohammad Aqib has joined the Department of Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) as Assistant Professor and will provide specialist services at the Apex Trauma Centre. Director PGI professor Radha Krishna Dhiman said that the new OPD will cater not only to routine ENT ailments but also to complex trauma-related conditions, including hearing loss caused by road traffic accidents, facial nerve paralysis, neck injuries and injuries involving the ear, nose and throat. One of the critical conditions to be managed at the centre will be cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leakage through the nose or ear, which can occur following head and facial trauma and may carry a risk of serious complications if left untreated.htc...
