Elephant's tusk breaks off after scooty collision on highway
Haldwani, May 21 -- A woman riding a scooty was injured after her vehicle collided with a wild elephant that was crossing a highway in Khatima in Udham Singh Nagar district, forest officials said on Wednesday.
The impact of the collision also caused one of the elephant's tusks to break off.
According to Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Tarai East Forest Division Himanshu Bagri, the incident occurred on Tuesday when a wild elephant was crossing the Chakarpur-Banbasa stretch of National Highway- 125.
The injured woman was identified as Nikita Kapri (23), a school teacher. The forest team took possession of the broken tusk and rushed the injured woman to the nearest government hospital," officials said, adding the Chakarpur-Banbasa stretch falls within an elephant corridor....
