LUCKNOW, Sept. 13 -- A 70-year-old retired municipal employee was stabbed to death in broad daylight, and his 19-year-old grandson was seriously injured following a dispute over a minor traffic collision outside a liquor shop on Sitapur Road in Madiaon police station area on Saturday, police said. According to police, Madan Bihari Tiwari, a resident of Bharat Nagar, was travelling on a motorcycle with his grandson Sankalp Tiwari, an intermediate student, to pay an electricity bill when their bike collided with a cart near a country liquor shop opposite Krishna Bihari Colony. The collision triggered a heated argument, during which the suspect allegedly attacked both victims with a knife. Additional deputy commissioner of police (North) Naveen Kumar Singh said both victims were rushed to the KGMU Trauma Centre, where Madan Bihari succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Sankalp remains hospitalized. Madan Bihari's son, Pradeep Tiwari who also works as a supervisor in Zone-2 of the municipal corporation, said he rushed to the hospital after receiving a call about his father falling ill, only to discover the stabbing. The victim retired from the civic body in 2010 as an RR department supervisor.
