Elderly father carries ailing son on handcart to health centre
Gorakhpur, Aug. 22 -- An elderly man in Maharajganj was forced to carry his ailing son on a handcart to a primary health centre after reportedly failing to arrange an ambulance. The 33-year-old man, Mahajan, later died during treatment at Baba Raghav Das (BRD) Medical College in Gorakhpur on Friday morning.
Dr Sharvan Kumar Tiwari, in-charge of the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Paniyara, said Mahajan, a resident of ward no 5 of the town area, was brought to the centre in critical condition on Thursday. Doctors suspected pesticide poisoning and referred him to BRD Medical College. According to reports, Mahajan had been ill and unable to walk. Unable to arrange an ambulance, his elderly father took him to the PHC on a handcart. After initial examination and treatment, doctors advised shifting him to Gorakhpur for specialised care.
He was taken to BRD Medical College, where he died on Friday morning.htc...
