AGRA, July 3 -- An e-rickshaw driver was arrested after being injured in a police encounter for allegedly raping a woman at a hotel in Aligarh, police said on Thursday. According to SP (City) Aditya Bansal, the woman lodged a complaint on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday, alleging that the driver offered to take her to a hotel with low room charges and later forcibly entered her room and raped her before fleeing. A case was registered at Banna Devi police station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including rape and attempt to murder. Police identified the accused, Subhan, a resident of Islam Nagar in Aligarh, using CCTV footage. Police said the accused opened fire when a team from Banna Devi police station and the Criminal Intelligence Wing tracked him down early on Thursday....
