Lakhimpur Kheri, June 30 -- The tourism season at the Dudhwa Tiger Reserve (DTR) will conclude with a special safari on Tuesday, normally the park's weekly closure day, before the reserve shuts for visitors ahead of the monsoon. The DTR, which comprises Dudhwa National Park, Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary and Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary, will remain closed for tourist activities after June 30. As a special gesture for tourists wishing to visit the reserve on the final day of the season, authorities decided to operate safari services in both the morning and evening sessions on Tuesday. DTR deputy director Jagdish R. said the decision followed discussions and approval from competent authorities. Tuesday has been observed as the weekly closure day at Dudhwa National Park since April 25, 2023, in accordance with National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) guidelines. The weekly break is intended to provide rest to staff engaged in tourism operations and minimise disturbance to wildlife by giving animals a respite from tourist activity.
