DJ operator shot dead in Bareilly
BAREILLY, June 17 -- A 28-year-old DJ operator was allegedly shot dead while returning home from work in Bareilly's Sanjay Nagar area late Monday night. Police have launched a manhunt after the victim's family named four persons in connection with the killing.
Arjun Maurya, a resident of Gosai Gautiya, worked as a DJ operator at a marriage hall in Delapeer. According to family members, he had finished work at an event and was heading home when four men allegedly intercepted him.
The accused allegedly surrounded Arjun, and one of them shot him in the head at close range. Residents rushed to the spot after hearing the gunshot, but he had already died.
The incident sparked tension in the locality, with several shops shutting down after news of the killing spread. Senior police officials visited the victim's family, while large crowds gathered at crime scene and district hospital.
Family members said Arjun was the only son of the family and played a key role in supporting the household. His father, Rakesh Maurya, alleged that a local resident identified as Kush and three associates conspired to kill his son. He has submitted a complaint naming four individuals.
According to preliminary information, the accused are also linked to the marriage hall and DJ business, pointing to a possible professional dispute. Police, however, said the motive is yet to be established.
Manush Pareek, SP, said police teams were conducting raids to arrest the accused and were examining CCTV footage.
"We have received names of some suspects from the victim's family," he said. Police said efforts are underway to trace the accused, and further investigation is in progress. htc...
