Day after police find no casualty, body of worker recovered
GORAKHPUR, Oct. 1 -- A day after police and fire officials found no casualty during an initial inspection of a turpentine oil warehouse gutted in a massive fire in Gorakhpur's Mohan Lalpur area, a badly charred body was recovered from the premises on Tuesday evening following a family's complaint that a worker had been missing since the blaze.
The fire broke out around 5:30 p.m. on Monday at the turpentine oil godown located under the Tiwaripur police station limits.
On Tuesday, the family of Bhola alias Rambadan, a 36-year-old worker from Sinduria in Maharajganj, approached the police, saying he had been missing since the fire. A subsequent search of the burnt warehouse led to the recovery of human remains from the debris.
SP City Nimish Patil said the remains had been recovered and that Bhola's family was claiming them to be those of the missing worker. He said the identity would be established only after DNA examination.
The recovery triggered anger among Bhola's family members and locals, who questioned why the possibility of a person being trapped inside the warehouse had not been detected during the initial inspection. HTC...
