Crackdown on fuel black marketing: 233 FIRs, 20 arrests since March 12
LUCKNOW, April 3 -- In a crackdown on fuel black marketing, the UP government has registered 233 FIRs and arrested 20 people since March 12, following directives by chief minister Yogi Adityanath. The statewide enforcement drive targets illegal trading of petrol, diesel and LPG while ensuring uninterrupted public supply.
Officials said nearly 19,882 inspections and raids have been conducted across districts, leading to action against 237 individuals. Of the total cases, 33 involve LPG distributors, while 200 FIRs were filed against others engaged in illegal gas trading. Authorities emphasise that the campaign is calibrated to curb hoarding and profiteering without disrupting supply chains.
The state has also intensified action against rumour-mongering, with the CM warning of strict penalties for misinformation that could trigger panic. Despite the crackdown, fuel availability remains stable. UP holds substantial reserves, and sales across over 12,000 fuel stations continue at normal levels. htc...
