crackdown on cybercrime: DGP launches 'Op Cy-Vajra'
Lucknow, July 8 -- Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police Rajeev Krishna has ordered a seven-day statewide special drive, Operation Cy-Vajra, to intensify action against cyber criminals, strengthen cyber policing and ensure faster relief for victims.
At a high-level review meeting, the DGP directed all police units to enhance cyber intelligence-based operations, expedite complaint registration and maximise recovery of defrauded money through the Money Restoration Module (MRM) while publicising both MRM and the Grievance Redressal Module.
Reviewing the period from April 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026, he said UP Police blocked 2,94,024 suspicious mobile numbers, 1,81,405 mobile devices and placed Rs.530 crore under lien/hold in cyber financial fraud cases. Krishna also directed officers to accord top priority to cyber crimes against women and children, strengthen technical training and public awareness, and ensure coordinated, technology-driven policing across the state. htc...
