MEERUT, July 27 -- Two men were stabbed to death by their contractor over a work-related payment dispute in Moradabad's Gulabbadi area on Saturday, police said. The victims were identified as Mohd Shahnawaz alias Bablu (35) and Junaid (30), both residents of Asalatpura in the Galshaheed police station area. Shahnawaz died on the spot, while Junaid succumbed to his injuries during treatment at the district hospital, they added. According to police, the accused, Mohd Sarik, a sheet-cutting contractor, was drinking with his two workers, Shahnawaz and Junaid when an argument over a payment issue broke out. Sarik allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed both men multiple times in an attack. Upon receiving the information, when police arrived at the scene, angry locals gathered and created a commotion, demanding immediate action. As per the information, Shahnawaz and Junaid were engaged in metal sheet-cutting work and had previously worked under Sarik. According to family members, Sarik had earlier taken a sheet-cutting contract in Delhi and sent Shahnawaz to handle it. However, he later abandoned the project and refused to pay, citing financial losses. Faheem Qureshi, Shahnawaz's brother, said that Shahnawaz had recently returned from Delhi after completing the sheet-cutting work Sarik had abandoned. While they were drinking, Sarik came to know about it, reportedly felt insulted, and became upset. Additional superintendent of police Kumar Ranvijay Singh stated, "We received a report of a double murder from Galshaheed police station. When our team reached the location, Shahnawaz had died, while Junaid was in critical condition. He was rushed to the district hospital, where he later succumbed to injuries. We are currently searching for the accused, Sarik," he said. HTC...
