NEW DELHI, Oct. 14 -- Fourteen Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) members, including co-convenors Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, were detained on Tuesday after they scaled an iron gate of an office premises to enter the now-denotified Jantar Mantar protest site, which has been closed to entry since last week. A senior police officer said that a case of trespassing had been registered at Parliament Street police station, without giving further details. In videos taken by the group at the site and uploaded to social media, Ranka can be seen waving the national flag as the group raises slogans of "Bharat Mata Ki Jai", "Inquilab Zindabad" and "Gyanesh Kumar Isteefa Do". Within seconds, police officers begin detaining them. Das later shared a video from inside a bus, saying, "We have breached Jantar Mantar. We were at Jantar Mantar and now we are being detained." The incident comes a day after the area was de-listed as the official protest site by Delhi Police. To be sure, the area has been cordoned off with police barricades since the last week of September, ahead of a planned CJP protest on October 10. Heavy security still remains deployed in the area and the entirety of central Delhi. In a post on X later, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, who was not at the site, said, "Resistance cannot be de-notified." All 14 CJP members were taken to Jafarpur Kalan police station, where they were still detained at the time of going to press. CJP's legal head, Ratna Singh, said the station house officer (SHO) had refused to let their lawyer meet them, while their phones had been confiscated. "Under what legal authority are they being detained, and why is their lawyer being denied access?" she said in a post on X. The police did not respond to the allegations....
