LUCKNOW, Aug. 15 -- Ahead of the 80th Independence Day, universities across the city observed 'Har Ghar Tiranga' with marches, cultural events and tributes, highlighting national unity, sacrifice and Constitutional values. A Tiranga Yatra was taken out at the Law faculty of Lucknow University. Later, a cultural programme was held. Research scholar Abhinav Shyam Tiwari opened the event with a patriotic guitar rendition. Prof Piyush Bhargava spoke on historic temples, while Prof Manuka Khanna discussed the rise of nationalism. In the Hindi Department, former Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Bajpai remembered child martyrs like Shanti Ghosh and Khudiram Bose. He recalled that LU's first law graduate and former UP CM Chandrabhanu Gupta had fought the Kakori case. Dean Arts Prof Arvind Mohan and HoD Prof Pawan Agrawal also paid tribute to freedom fighters. Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Language University organised a campus-wide 'Har Ghar Tiranga Yatra' led by vice-chancellor Prof Ajay Taneja. NCC ANO Lt. Bushra Alvera said cadets played a key role in spreading patriotism. At Dr Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University, a joint NSS-NCC Tiranga Yatra was taken out on Mohan Road. AKTU took out a march with a 500-metre tricolour. VC Prof JP Pandey flagged it off from the main building. BBAU observed Vibhajan Vibhishika Smriti Diwas. VC Prof Raj Kumar Mittal said Partition was a reminder of the cost of freedom. A painting and rangoli competition and an exhibition on Partition Horrors Remembrance Day were organised at State Museum while a live painting workshop was organised by State Lalit Kala Akademi. Around 300 cyclists, Army personnel and citizens took part in a Har Ghar Tiranga cycle rally and Tiranga Walkathon organised by Headquarters Madhya UP Sub Area in Lucknow Cantonment on Friday. Led by Station Commander Brigadier Rakesh Kumar Mishra, the nearly 7.5-km rally passed through key cantonment routes.
