LUCKNOW, Feb. 23 -- Thieves broke into a locked house in Kalyanpur and allegedly decamped with cash and jewellery worth nearly Rs.30 lakh while the family was away attending a wedding, police said on Sunday. As per reports, Pradeep Gupta, a resident of Gudamba, works as a sales manager with a private company. He had left for Gorakhpur with his family on February 8 to attend his brother's wedding. Police said family returned on February 16 morning only to find the main door broken. On entering the house, they found household articles scattered and cupboards ransacked. Gupta told the police that burglars made away with around 200 grams of gold jewellery, approximately 2.5 kg of silver ornaments and nearly Rs.1 lakh in cash. A forensic team inspected the spot and officers are scanning CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the suspects and trace their movement, police said, adding that the total value of the stolen items is estimated to be around Rs.30 lakh. Gudamba SHO Prabhatesh Srivastava said a case has been registered and multiple teams have been formed to nab the accused.
