PRAYAGRAJ, April 29 -- BJP MLA from Karachhana Piyush Ranjan Nishad has alleged an attempt on his life after a heavy vehicle reportedly tried to hit his convoy near the Prayagraj Municipal Corporation's construction and demolition waste management plant area late Monday night. A case has been registered at the Naini police station against an unidentified truck driver under charges including attempted murder, and an investigation has been launched, police said on Tuesday. Confirming the development, Naini SHO Brijkishore Gautam said that the FIR has been registered under sections 62 (attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life or other imprisonment), 109 (1) (attempt to murder) and 324 (4) (committing mischief that causes loss or damage to property amounting to Rs 20,000 or more, but less than Rs one lakh). "A probe is now underway," he said. According to the complaint filed by MLA Nishad, the incident took place on Monday night around 11.30 pm when he was travelling from Arail Bandh Road towards Omaxe City. He alleged that a truck deliberately attempted to ram his vehicle from the right side near the C&D plant with the intent to kill him and his security personnel. The MLA stated that due to a turning cut at the location, both he and his security staff narrowly escaped the collision, though his vehicle was damaged in the incident. Nishad further claimed this was not an isolated incident, alleging a similar attempt occurred on April 3 as well. He has demanded a thorough investigation into the driver of the truck and others involved, along with strict legal action.
